Nyanya Blasts: ‘My Wife Died On Way To Buy Wedding Items’
Understandably, Alpha Moro became disturbed on the whereabouts of his wife who left home less than an hour before, immediately he heard about the bomb explosion that rocked the Nyanya park on Monday morning.
“I could not find her until this morning,” Moro told P.M.NEWS while making his way out of the mortuary with obvious signs of fatigue and sadness written all over him.
•Moro in front of the mortuary where his wife’s body was kept
He sat on the pavement in front of the mortuary, surrounded by sympathetic relatives.
Moro, an employee in the protocol department of the National Assembly, toldP.M.NEWS the circumstances surrounding the death of his wife in the bomb blast that has so far claimed 72 lives, according to National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
“My wife left home ten minutes before the bomb blast to Area 1 Garki to get some items for my younger brother’s wedding coming up this weekend. Immediately I heard the noise, I knew I was in trouble because the bus station is not far from our house.
“I rushed down there to the scene of the bomb blast but I could not find my wife.
“I rushed down to Nyanya hospital, she was not there either.
“I went to Asokoro General Hospital, Abuja Clinics, Garki Hospital, my wife was not there. At all these hospitals they told me there was no female corpse.
“So I came to the National Hospital and searched the mortuary tray by tray until I got to the last row and the last corpse, there lies the body of my wife with a pregnancy of five months.
“Her body was intact, no injury of any kind. I think she died from shock.”
Another relative of the victims of the deadly blast at Nyanya park was a lady who simply identified herself as Ebele.
The 24-year old lady was sobbing profusely at the premises of National Hospital and it took some efforts to get her to speak on the circumstances surrounding the death of her sister, Justina in last Monday’s bomb blast.
She had just discovered the corpse of her sister on Tuesday afternoon after a fruitless search that took her to other hospitals.
Other relatives who were consoling her were heard saying , “you tried your best and your conscience has set you free because you told her the truth but she refused to listen.”
Ebele and Justina, her late sister, were living in the same apartment.
Ebele told P.M.NEWS that her late sister was in the habit of leaving home without telling anybody her destination.
She said she had reported this unbecoming attitude of the 31-year old Justina, who only came to Abuja in January this year, to their parents in the village and other relatives in Abuja.
And just like in the past, Justina, a shop attendant in a boutique at EMAB Plaza Wuse ll, Abuja, left home on Friday to an unknown destination and got caught up in the bomb blast on her way back:
“I think it was on her coming back from the unknown boyfriend’s place on her way to work in Abuja metropolis when she was caught up in the bomb blast.
“We don’t even know this so-called boyfriend. I told my sister how dangerous Abuja life is, because I have been here for some years before her but she refused to listen to me. Look at what has happened now,” she said while sobbing.
The 5 Types Of Men Who Make Great Husbands
In my line of work, I meet a lot of great husbands and the wives who adore them. Over time, it’s not hard to pick up on a pattern among these men — especially when I chat with other wives about why they chose the men they’ve married and what qualities in their husbands have most shaped their marriages. For all those single women out there who often wonder what type of man they should marry or how they will know if he’s “The One” they’re meant to spend forever with, this list is 100 percent for you. It’s based on my own personal experience as a wife, those of the many wives I’ve encountered throughout my career as a Weddings and Relationships editor, and the observations I’ve made about the great husbands I’ve met or bumped into over the years. Not all of the answers are here, but I promise you, this list has some of the insight you seek. Read on, ladies, and take notes.
1. The Provider
He puts family first, always. He’s a selfless man, who lives to please those he cares most about. He’s the kind of man who can work two jobs in his sleep, always has a side-hustle in mind to earn more money, and guards his savings with his life. He can’t rest until he knows the ones he loves are okay. He strives for perfection at home and in the office. Work-life balance is very important to him, but if missing time with his loved ones means a better life for them, he’s always game to put in the overtime and take one for the team. Words like “no,” “can’t,” and “impossible,” are just not in his vocabulary, and when he hears others use them, it only increases his devotion to the task at hand.

Why He Makes a Good Husband: Marriage is the start of a new family — your family. You will both want to provide for the family you create together, and it’s imperative that you are partners with the same goals in mind. That said, there will be times when one person just cannot do as much as the marriage (or family) requires — such is life. Marrying a natural-born provider will be a huge plus when the scales in your marriage tip, as they inevitably will at different points along your path.
2. The Rock
At your weakest moments, his strength keeps you stable and inspires you to push through. He isn’t immune to pain or frustration, but he does handle it well, and he knows how to pull himself out of low places. He’s the kind of man who never misses your call when he knows you need to get something off your chest, or better, just a friend to be there for you. Speaking of chests, his is always there for you to lean on, squeeze, and find comfort in when it feels like only a hug will do.
Why He Makes a Good Husband: He’s loyal, devoted, and a true pillar in the world of the woman he loves. This is the perfect recipe for a loving husband that you can count on through thick and thin; what woman doesn’t dream of marrying one of those?

3. The Critical Thinker
There isn’t a problem, big or small, that he isn’t itching to solve. He’s a quick, solid, thinker, who hates to be backed into a corner. He doesn’t just see the problem in front of him; he sees a road map of the many solutions available to him and takes his time as he determines the best way to get there, or the course of action he must take. He is patient, because he has to be — rushing things is rarely the answer and he knows this. He’s diligent, focused, and considers himself a mental Olympian of sorts.

Why He Makes a Good Husband: Marriage is truly beautiful, but it comes with its share of problems, and its rough patches. Happier times aren’t always just around the bend — getting there may require a detailed plan and thinking smarter, not harder. He will make a great team player during the moments where the only way to win is to work together, and trust me, those moments can and will arise in marriage.
4. The Believer
When the world around him comes crumbling down and the sun seems as if it will never rise again, this man still believes — his faith is his foundation. It gets him through the good and the bad, and it never falters. He believes in the things unseen and those that many give up on when the world turns cold: hope, morals, kindness, and good will. He has a church home, or a religious mainstay in his life and the fellowship refuels his engines. He’s God-fearing (whoever his God) and he’s proud of his strong beliefs. His moral compass is always turned in a positive direction, and he refuses to accept failure. He helps others and chooses to live his life in a way he believes others should live theirs.

5. The Free Spirit
Spending time with this man never gets old. He believes that life is about living and therefore is virtually immune to the physical afflictions caused by stress and worry. It’s not that he doesn’t feel those emotions; he just refuses to let them consume him. He stays positive and seeks to enjoy all aspects of his life, as much as humanly possible. He has most likely chosen a career he loves over one that pays all the bills. Therefore he’s just as passionate about his work as he can be about feeding his cravings for new adventures. He enjoys traveling and most likely has a bucket list at least a quarter complete. He doesn’t believe in wasting time worrying about what can’t happen and prefers to shift his focus to what can. With him, there’s never a dull moment at home, in the bedroom, or when you’re out and about. His inner light shines through and warms the spirits of those around him. He keeps life exciting — almost as if, each day he presses the refresh button.

Marrying this man ensures that one pitfall your marriage won’t ever fall into is that of pure and utter boredom. It sounds simple, but it’s so important.

Former Governor, Igbinedion to get fresh money laundering trial
The Court of Appeal Benin City today( April 9, 2014) upheld the appeal of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as it ruled that a former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion has a case to answer over allegations of financial improprieties.
In a unanimous decision, the panel of three justices led by Justice Helen M. Ogunwunmiju ruled that the former governor should return the Federal High Court to face trial for money laundering, misappropriation of fund and abuse of office. The other justices are Justice M. M. Saulawa and Justice A. O. Lokulo-Sodipe.
The EFCC approached the Court of Appeal sequel to the judgment of Justice Adamu Hobon, then of the Federal High Court, Benin City who dismissed the fresh charge of money laundering filed against the former governor on the ground that Igbinedion entered a plea bargain with the EFCC and was convicted, that the fresh charge brought against him amounts to double jeopardy.
The appellate court in upholding the appeal of the EFCC ruled that there was no agreement between Igbinedion and the EFCC that he would not face trial on fresh allegations and revelations and therefore ruled that Igbinedion returns to the High Court to face trial for money laundering and misappropriation of funds.
The EFCC had on February 8, 2011 charged the former governor and six others before a Federal High Court sitting in Benin, on a 66-count charge. Others charged along with the former governor are his brother, Michael Igbinedion, Patrick Eboigbodin, and four companies -Gava Corporation Limited, Romrig Nigeria Limited, PMI Securities Company Limited and PML (Nigeria) Limited.
The charge borders on money laundering, illegal transfer of public fund to private account and abuse of office when Igbinedion was governor of Edo State between 1997 and 2007.
Count one of the charge reads: “That you Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion and Patrick Eboigbodin between April and May 2007 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did convert the sum of N250,000,000 (two hundred and fifty million) which you illegally derived from the Local Government Joint Allocation Account (JAAC) Edo State on the pretence that the said amount was for the provision of security during the 2007 local government election in Edo State (which election never took place) and you converted the said fund with the aim of concealing the illicit origin of the funds and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 14(1) (a)of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2004”
First goal key for Barca against Atletico – Martino -
(AFP) – Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino believes his side need to score first if they are to overcome Atletico Madrid at a fifth time of asking in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
La Liga’s top two sides have drawn in all four previous meetings this season, including a 1-1 tie in last week’s first leg at the Camp Nou.
Atletico’s stubborn defence has successfully limited Barca’s creative players in all four games and Martino believes forcing Diego Simeone’s men to take the initiative will be key to progressing to the semi-finals.
“Both teams know each other very well. I think both have played at a very high level in different styles, but what hasn’t happened is that Barcelona have gone in front,” he said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
“That is very important and even more so in this case. We will try to score first and that will allow us to manage the game in a different way.”
Barca’s only two goals in the four games against Atletico have come from Brazilian forward Neymar as four-time World Player of the Year Lionel Messi has struggled to make an impression.
However, Martino insisted that, despite his stellar record, Messi offers Barca much more than just goals.
“Leo is so used to scoring in every game that when he goes four games without scoring against the same opposition it creates attention, but he is a decisive player for Barcelona in much more than scoring goals.
“We know that if we have Leo in top form we have a much better chance of making the semis.”
Cesc Fabregas is once again expected to start in a four-man midfield alongside Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Andres Iniesta in support of Messi and Neymar.
And the former Arsenal captain believes Barca have to stick to their principles and keep possession to overcome Atletico’s resistance.
“It is true that they have a very defined style, they are very good at neutralising you, but they are also very good on the counter-attack so we want to have the ball even more and be a bit more cautious in our passes.
“I think we have the technique and players capable of turning the tie around, 90 minutes is a lot of time. We must be brave, attack, be solid and play the Barcelona way.”
Goalkeeper Victor Valdes and defender Gerard Pique remain Barcelona’s two key absentees through injury so Jose Manuel Pinto and Marc Bartra will continue to deputise in goal and at the heart of the defence respectively.
Atletico are one point clear of Barca in La Liga after last weekend’s games where Barca, with Messi among the scorers, beat Real Betis 3-1 and Atletico downed Villarreal 1-0 for their sixth straight league win.
